Tongues Untied

Few films have had a greater impact on Black queer representation than Tongues Untied, Marlon Riggs’s groundbreaking 1989 documentary-poem that gives voice to the experiences of Black gay men in America. Blending personal testimony, spoken word, music, performance, and documentary footage, Riggs created a work that is at once joyful, angry, intimate, and revolutionary.
